Almost out of here
On Saturday two of the Marines from Erik’s unit came over to help us move boxes and furniture into the storage unit. They made quick work of all the packing I’ve done for the past couple months. (Thanks, Gents!)
Today is Erik’s last day of work before pre-deployment leave begins. We were hoping to load up the truck tonight and leave bright and early tomorrow, but it ain’t gonna happen. There is still too much to do. Now we’re hoping to have everything wrapped up by Sunday afternoon or so. Luckily I had the foresight to keep the house until the end of the month, just in case anything like this happened.
Yesterday the kids and I drove to Wilmington, about an hour and a half from here, to pick up a used camper shell for our truck. What a score! I’m really pleased with it, and it will make the trip so much easier on us, and it will keep us much drier when we get back to “our” coast.
I’m so ready to pull stakes and make tracks. I’m bored (my sewing has been packed for ages), the kids are bored (almost everything they own is packed), and we’re all tired of eating instant and take-out (the kitchen is all packed, too).
I’m not sure if I’ll have much time for blogging on our trip, but I’ll tell you all about it when we reach our destination.
Hope everyone enjoys the trip back home. We will look forward to reading about your journey. Many thanks to all of you for your service to our country! We will be praying for you and hope the time flies till the whole family is together again. Chad and Iris
OMG! Annie!!!! Well, I am sorry we didnt get to meet while you were on this side of our big rock- but maybe I can get over the the west coast in the future. I hope that you guys drive safe and that all goes well!
Oceans of love to you all!
Kate
Have a wonderful trip Annie!!! I know that packed up and ready to hit the road feeling!! It will be so nice for you to get there and get settled.
Take care!!!
Love, Jenny
Thanks for reminding us of the sacrifices that our military (and their dependents) make to defend the freedoms of this Nation! I appreciate your willingness to support your husband as he “goes to work”! Thank you both!
Goodness, have a safe trip…though by my calculations you’re probably half way there by now. I can’t blame you one bit for escaping to Oregon, our trip up there last year was so pretty! Enjoy yourself as best you can! See you on the flip side!
Godspeed Annie to all your family – for a safe journey back to Oregon and for a safe deployment for your husband.
I hope the trip has gone well… looking forward to the post from you or Dave announcing your safe arrival!
