Argyle sock

Since The Man was in the field all week, it was a perfect opportunity for me to work on his “big” Christmas present–Argyle socks. (I can safely tell you about them, because I know he doesn’t read this, and he knows, vaguely, that I’ve been working on them anyway…) I have one nearly finished. Erik came home last night, finally, only to reveal that he had duty today. Sooo… I’ll spend this morning unknitting a few rows from the toe of the sock, since I got a little carried away. Then hopefully I’ll have a chance to get a good start on the mate.

I just wanted to say Thank you and to let you know that I made a dozen diapers and how great they are. A friend of mine told me what they do is to make the soakers and lay them inside the diapers (or use cloth diapers folded) and if you change them frequently she can last with a few of the diaper covers. Her diapers were made with rip stop nylon and I found them to be water (pee) resistant not proof though. The flannel on the inside I get from the thrift stores(old recieving blankets double layer) and if I use white rip stop nylon I turn the colorful side of the flannel out and it will show thru the rip stop and look really cute. I looked at the sites you recommended and found the PUL to be very expensive and when I tried to sew with it I just didn’t care for it at all. The rip stop nylon I get from Hobby lobby and it is only $4.99 a yard. So far so good. My friend said that her rip stop nylon diapers lasted her from birth till potty training. She used these around 17 years ago and I took a look at the way it was constructed and I was pleasenly surprised at how well they survived. The looked great. Oh yes and thank you for the cloth pad sites. My daughter has been having problems with prolong and painful periods and so she has been using the cloth pads for two months now and she is so impressed. She said that she is hardly bleeding at all and that her periods are more comfortable now. I have also made them for incontience and so far no complaints. If you place a scented oil (essential oil from a health food store) that you like on the bottom of the pad there are no offensive odors.
